USWNT to Play Canada at USA Hockey Arena

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey announced today that the U.S. Women's National Team will play Canada at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan, on December 17, 2016, at 4:30 p.m. ET as part of the first-ever Team USA Winter Champions Series.

The U.S. Women's National Team most recently played Canada on April 4 in the gold medal game at the International Ice Hockey Federation Women’s World Championship, winning a 1-0 overtime thriller.

Since falling to Canada in overtime, 3-2, and earning a silver medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, the U.S. Women’s National Team has played Canada in four international events (two IIHF Women's World Championships and two Four Nations Cups), winning three of four titles and six of eight games overall.

Prior to the Team USA Winter Champions Series, the U.S and Canada will meet in October of 2016 at the Four Nations Cup in Finland.

The Team USA Winter Champions Series is a daylong celebration of the Road to Pyeongchang that will feature three Olympic events broadcast on NBC and NBCSN. In addition to hockey, the series will include luge and the new Olympic event of big air snowboarding. Click here for more information on the series.

The Team USA Winter Champions Series will serve as a precursor to the 2017 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship that will be held at USA Hockey Arena from April 1-8.

NOTES: The roster for the 2016 U.S. Women's National Team that will compete in the Team USA Winter Champions Series will be announced in November. As part of the Team USA Winter Champions Series, the U.S.-Canada women's hockey game will be broadcast live on NBCSN.
