Schoolcraft College To Play Michigan State Police in Charity Game

Schoolcraft Hockey Team to play Michigan State Police Hockey Team in a charity fundraiser.

The Schoolcraft College Hockey Club will face off against the Michigan State Police Team on February 24, 2017 at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, MI. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the gate. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Student Activities Office at 734-462-4422 or stopping by the Student Activities Office located in the lower level of the VisTaTech Center. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the game including the gate, 50/50 raffle and Chuck a Puck will go to The MSP Fallen Trooper Memorial Fund and Michigan State Troopers Assistance Fund.

The purpose of the FTM Fund is for the upkeep of the Fallen Trooper Memorial located at the MSP Academy.   The fund is designed for engraving, along with any other maintenance, landscaping, and expenses for the FTM Ceremony held annually on the first Monday of May.

The Michigan State Troopers Assistance Fund (MSTAF) is the 501(c)(3) arm of the MSPTA.  Funds from MSTAF are granted in times of serious and unforeseen immediate need for MSP’s troopers, as well as other LE and first responders.  Grants are also awarded in support of other 501(c)(3) causes that fall within the appropriate guidelines.

The link to the MSTAF website is http://www.mspta.net/mstaf/donations/.  Donations can be made online at that link either by PayPal or a credit/debit card.  There is a box where the donor can make the donation in memory of someone.  Those wishing to donate to the Fallen Trooper Memorial Fund can type "Fallen Trooper Memorial Fund" in that box.  Checks can be made out to MSTAF or the Fallen Trooper Memorial Fund and sent to:

All donations to MSTAF are tax deductible. 

Additionally, MSTAF is hosting a 5k run/walk on the grounds of the Michigan State Police Training Academy July 15, 2017.  All proceeds go to MSTAF.  If anyone would like to participate in this event they can sign up online at http://www.playmakers.com/Events/GreaterLansingEvents.aspx.  Click the link for July then scroll down to July 15 to sign up.

The ceremonial puck drop will take place at 3:00 pm with state police and college officials in attendance to help with the honors.  Schoolcraft’s own April Hudson will sing the national anthem and the game will take place from 3:05- 5:20 pm. This partnership with the Michigan State Police is the first annual game with all parties looking forward to future match ups in years to come.
