USA Hockey Arena Seeks Learn to Skate/Play Coaches/Volunteers

USA Hockey Arena is looking for Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Staff

Volunteer: The volunteer will assist coaches and helpers through their service. There is no age restriction to be a volunteer. Any skater with a USFSA membership is eligible. Volunteers will be responsible for directing traffic on the ice and for insuring that skaters have proper equipment (ex: skates tied, helmet fastened, gloves/mittens worn).

Helper: Helpers will work closely with junior coaches and coaches to learn proper teaching technique. Helpers must be willing to learn, have a cooperative attitude, and have a desire to work with young skaters. Professional dress and consistent attendance is expected. Must be willing to come for orientation before beginning. You must be 15 years old to apply for this position.

Junior Coach: Junior Coaches work directly with coaches and are in close contact with the mentor coaches. Must be eager to learn, must demonstrate an interest to become a lead instructor, and must be a certified instructor through Learn to Skate USA. Professional dress and consistent attendance is expected.

Coach: Coaches lead their own classes and are assisted by helpers and junior coaches. Must be eager to learn, must have experience teaching private lessons/professional experience coaching figure skating/hockey, and must be a certified instructor through Learn to Skate USA. Coaches must complete PSA Continuing Education Series Level A or Level B. Professional dress and consistent attendance is expected.

Mentor Coach: Mentor coaches are responsible for being a role model to helpers and junior coaches. Mentor coaches will guide younger and less experienced coaches by providing advice, suggesting new ideas to implement on the ice during class, and developing helpers and junior coaches into highly skilled instructors. Mentor coaches may lead instruction on the ice. Mentor coaches must be certified through Learn to Skate USA and must complete PSA Continuing Education Series Level A or B. Professional dress and consistent attendance is expected. Must have an excellent understanding of the Learn to Skate curriculum and have a minimum of 7 years of experience teaching Learn to Skate at any rink.
