USA Hockey Arena Program Coordinator

General DescriptionThe Program Coordinator will develop and implement professional, effective and enjoyable skating programs with an emphasis on growth and retention. The Program Coordinator will also oversee day-to-day operations of the Learn to Skate, Learn to Play programs, House Hockey, NTDP Summer Hockey Schools, Try Hockey For Free, Field Trips, Birthday Parties and new ways for new customers to try skating, developing programs or retaining the current customer base.

Major Tasks:

  • Develop short- and long-term goals for program growth
  • Set and implement program schedules
  • Interview, hire and schedule part-time and subcontracted employees
  • Manage and monitor staff for proper instructional teaching
  • Monitor safety and implement safety/rules, regulations and procedures
  • Manage and meet the annual budget
  • Work with administration staff to ensure registration and customer service needs are met
  • Work with marketing personnel for program promotion
  • Maintain adequate supplies, tools and equipment for safe and successful program function
  • Provide training for instructional staff, assistants and volunteers
  • Represent as Growth Coordinator for USA Hockey Arena and Michigan Amateur Hockey Association
  • Develop and implement customer satisfaction evaluations/surveys
  • Plan and manage all field trip and birthday skating requests
  • Work assigned arena events throughout the year
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor

Duties:

  • Programs must run in accordance with USA Hockey and U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills; Promotion and support to all USA Hockey growth and Learn to Play initiatives
    • Try Hockey For Free events to grow programs
    • Develop collateral and promotional materials
    • Attend community events to promote programming at USA Hockey Arena
  • Run the Learn to Play program in accordance with USA Hockey guidelines 
    • Provide training tools to coaches and train them
  • Track membership progress and find ways to promote growing memberships
  • Act as a resource for prospective and existing members
  • Hold staff meetings and in-house training sessions
  • Run other activities which will serve to further the program's purpose and mission 
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Compuware House League
    • Schedule games with league opponents
    • Schedule referees
    • Maintain and update house team pages on CYH website
    • Represent CYH at I-275 league meetings
    • Provide training tools to coaches and train them based on USA Hockey's American Development Model
